Today was a typical Friday, in that everyone was excited for the weekend and about the upcoming changes. Mrs. King was present in the classroom to shadow me, so the transition can be as smooth as possible. I gave her a chance to answer the students' questions and they responded well to her. I am sure there are things that will change, but I am sure she will do a good job.
The 6th grade students at Life Christian Academy are some of the best students anywhere, in my opinion. We all have our ups and downs, but I am definitely going to miss them. Tuesday will be my last day, so we will not be doing a lot of work that day. I have a couple of things that I want to do with the class to say goodbye before I go.
As for the tests and quizzes this week, most of the tests that have been graded have been very good. I am proud of the progress the students have made this year and I hope it continues. Mrs. King has elected not to keep this blog, so I will do my own blog and I will pass that blog address out along with my address before I leave. As many of you have probably heard already, I am going to be leaving Life Christian Academy to move to Stockbridge, Georgia. I had hoped to find a job in that area before moving, but the school did not feel that prolonging the transition was conducive. The new teacher is Ginger King and she will begin shadowing me on Friday. Next Tuesday will be my last day at Life Christian Academy as Mrs. King is ready to begin immediately.
I talked to the students today and assured them that we will be making sure the transition is as smooth as possible. Please know that I am very attached to my students and this is all very hard for me as well as the students. We are going to make the best out of our next four days together though. I will be reserving Tuesday afternoon for me and the students to say goodbye.
I have enjoyed working with all of you and I wish you and your student the best of luck. I have definitely enjoyed this ride with you! Also, I will be transitioning to a personal blog (per the students' request) so they can stay in touch with me and keep up with how things are going.

Today our class returned to a sense of normal. We went back over several things the students completed while I was absent last week. We are starting fractions in math, so it is important that each student know their multiplication tables fluently. Please help them brush up on these skills. Also, we have more tests and quizzes than usual this week, because I wanted to review with the students. I did not want them to feel pressured or unprepared while a substitute teacher was present in the classroom.
I will try to be conscious of the amount of homework I assign this week, so students can fully prepare for their tests and quizzes. Report cards go out shortly after the fall break, so I would like for the students to have adequate time to improve their grades.

Well, I have been gone since lunch on Wednesday and I really miss the 6th graders! I did not realize how much I count on them for funny stories, lost books, questions, and of course asking to go to the bathroom constantly. My last few days have been busy as we are in the process of moving to Stockbridge, Georgia. As of now, we have rented a nice house and I am still waiting to hear about a job up here.
I know the limbo is aggravating and not consistent for the students. My hope is to have some form of transition plan in place and leaving date very soon. I really love each student and am going to miss them terribly. Crying is not my favorite thing to do, but it is all I can do when it comes to leaving my students.
However, in the meantime, I hope that each student continues to do well academically and socially. My desire is for all this transition to be a great stepping stone for the class to move to the next level! As always, my door is always open and you have my number for any questions or comments.

Today we had group work all day. Most of the students did very well working together as a team. There are a lot of things going on at school and we are all excited. First of all, we won the pizza party for 100% participation. We will be enjoying that tomorrow at 1 p.m. Yay! Thanks to all parents who made that possible. Also, thanks for attending the PTP meeting on Tuesday night. Our class had the most parents in attendance and our class won a $25 gift card to spend as a class! The students are super excited about all the incentives they have worked hard for you and you have supported them.
Tonight for homework, the students had to complete their science definitions and finish math page 42 (#5-7 all problems).
Tomorrow is a new day full of more surprises!

Well today was the day after I dropped the bomb about leaving. The students seem to be taking it well and I did not cry today! That's an improvement from yesterday. I so appreciate the emails, phone calls, and visits from parents. The students have been so kind and comforting as well. I hope to make the most of the time that I have left with them (i.e. new pictures, maybe a party for PTP 100% participation, and lots of good days.)
The students did not have any homework today as progress reports were given out tonight at the PTP meeting. I will be assigning homework again on Thursday night. There is a Math test tomorrow and then the Friday tests. I know many of the grades in the Tuesday folder were not as good as we had all hoped, but I will be giving extra credit and also doing more extensive reviews to help bring up those grades.

Well, as many of you have probably heard by now, I am going to be relocating with my husband, Eric, to Stockbridge, Georgia. Eric is a youth pastor and we feel that God has called our time in Albany to a close. He has opened a door for us at a church in Stockbridge and my husband will be moving the beginning of October. I am not sure of my departure date as of yet due to finding another job.
I guess I am picky! I have been spoiled by my class and I really love my students. I am struggling with the thought of leaving them. Tearfully, I talked to them this morning and let them know about the changes that are coming. The Akridges and myself are praying for another teacher to transition into the classroom. I have assured the students that things will not change too much and I encouraged them to keep up with their academics and keep building the team spirit (we have tried to work on!)
Until I leave, I avail myself to you and to your student. I will be happy to answer any questions and help in any way that I can. I know that the next teacher is going to inherit some awesome parents and amazing students!
