Awesome Friday 8/29/08

By Paige
Today was a great ending to the week! The students did much better than I anticipated on all the tests and were so cooperative. The day went really smoothly and we were able to accomplish a lot. We even added a new element to our classroom. From now on three days a week, we will be receiving the Albany Herald newspaper at school. I hope to teach the students how to use the paper and recognize how vital it can be as a resource. So you should see the newspapers coming home with them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week. I am looking forward to the class staying current on events and also finding new ways to get involved in history, politics, local events, etc.

I also want to say thank you to all parents for really supporting me and helping out with the planners, school supplies, and homework. I know 6th grade has been challenging so far and there are more surprises yet to come! Next week will be a little test for all of us because of the holiday on Monday, but I think we can stay on track and continue working well together.

Also, we are starting to investigate field trip possibilities for the class. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping to chaperone these events. One last thing, we will have a booth at the Candy Fest (at LCCI) around Halloween time and I desperately need parents to help me work at it! So as I get more info I will let you know!

The newspapers are a good idea. We watch the news together on tv, but reading is better I think. I'm glad today was a good day!

Something to say?
