Family Day 8/22/08

By Paige
Today started off on a serious note. I had to have our first family talk with the class as a whole. We discussed what is acceptable and what is not acceptable to say and do. I urged all students to respect each other and embrace our differences. Hopefully, we all came to an understanding about what is expected of them. Otherwise, today was a good day. A little crazy at times, but I have come to expect and love the level of dysfunction! Ha ha!

Anyway, the tests and quizzes all went well. Some students did exceptionally well and I am very proud of them! Other students did not study as much as they should have. Consequently, they did not do as well as I had hoped.
The students were required to finish all classwork for homework that was not completed in class. Every student is supposed to finish writing their 2 page humorous story in their journal. Additionally, we did math page 9 and 10 today and language page 19 and 20. They were required to finish page 2 and 3 in the map skills book and read science page 22-26. I think many students finished the assignments, while others elected to finish over the weekend. I am anticipating a great week next week and I will keep you posted on the classroom atmosphere! --Mrs. Gordon

Ok, well, my child says he did all of the work listed. I will double check to make sure. You know how kids are!
I like the idea of making them more responsible for their success or failure. They need to be prepped for the upper grades and also for life.
On another note, this rain is killing me! The kids and I are stuck indoors and going a little nuts. We are not playing hand held video games for one whole month, so we are playing board games and watching movies.
Lord, thanks for the rain, but please, either bless my boys with calm, or me with temporary deafness!

Thanks for all you do. I know that it is above and beyond. God bless you for your patience.
Homework is all done. The writing assignment was good. He has a bit of trouble with being humorous, but his story turned out to be really good.
We are looking forward to another week of new experiences.

Something to say?
